Spotlight on Our Savior’s Lutheran Preschool and Infant Center: Love. Learn. Serve.
At the heart of sunny San Clemente, Our Savior’s Lutheran Preschool and Infant Center lives out its guiding principles: Love. Learn. Serve. As a ministry deeply committed to the development of the whole child, the center offers a Christian, developmental, play-based program led by dedicated educators and Director Michelle Wohlfarth. Michelle shared,
“Our Savior’s Preschool and Infant Center is a Christian, developmental play-based program with an emphasis on Social and Emotional Development.”
To support excellence in teaching, the school partners with the Start Well program through the Orange County Department of Education, giving each teacher and the director a dedicated coach who visits monthly to observe, reflect, and refine classroom strategies. Michelle added,
“This is one of the many ways we strive for excellence in our Preschool.”
A Curriculum Anchored in Faith
The curriculum is grounded in California’s Learning Foundations and Frameworks, supported by the DRDP (Desired Results Developmental Profile). The school hosts parent-teacher conferences in both fall and spring to track and celebrate each child’s development. Their current ELEA accreditation stands alongside their pursuit of NAEYC accreditation, reflecting their ongoing commitment to high-quality care and education.
Spiritual growth is central to the school experience.
“The students have Chapel once a week where they listen to Bible stories and learn Christian songs.” Michelle shared. “We want them to know they are children of God and are wonderfully made.”
This foundation of faith helps children grow in confidence, compassion, and curiosity.
Building Community and Connection
Over the past year, Our Savior’s has focused intentionally on deepening relationships within its community.
“This year we have added monthly community events for our church and school.” said Michelle. “These have been a huge benefit for our families.”
These gatherings have strengthened bonds between school and church, creating a space for families to connect and grow together.
Support and Solidarity Through the ELEA
Membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association has been a lifeline of connection and encouragement.
“The ELEA has provided an online connection to other schools. This connection allows a safe space to wrestle with common issues that schools face.”
Through these virtual networks, the team at Our Savior’s has found both wisdom and solidarity among peers.
Looking Toward the Future
As they dream forward, growth is on the horizon—particularly for the Infant Center.
“Our goal is to grow our Infant Center. We hope to provide the highest quality care that can be affordable for our community.”
